As the Board Chair of the Kentucky Environmental Foundation, I see day-to-day the environmental struggles we face here in the Bluegrass State. From chemical weapons, coal, fracking, and the Tennessee Gas Pipeline to environmental health and alternative energies, Kentucky is a battleground state for many environmental issues facing our country. But seeing these struggles becomes one of the most rewarding aspects of my work on the Kentucky Environmental Foundation Board, as I also see the impact that community action and hard-working organizations can have on our environmental future.
As we close out 2015, we’d like to thank you, our donors, for your continued support. This year marked some major milestones for KEF. With your help, we produced and premiered NERVE: The Film which documents KEF’s fight to dismantle the world’s most dangerous chemical weapons that were being stored right here in Madison County at the Bluegrass Army Depot. With your help, we launched a new environmental health literacy program in Eastern Kentucky, focused on creating positive solutions to environmental health concerns by empowering school children to better understand the relationship between their environment and their health. We also celebrated our 25th year as an organization. None of it could have been achieved without you.
For the last 25 years, KEF has been on the front lines advocating for change and as we pick up the torch for the next 25 years, we ask you to make us a priority in your end of year giving.
Our mission is clear; we are unwaveringly dedicated to sustainability, safeguarding human health, promoting environmental justice, and preserving ecological systems for a better future for all Kentuckians. However, we face many more challenges and fights in defending Kentucky’s environmental future. I’m writing to you today because we need your help to continue our work.
Donate today and help the Kentucky Environmental Foundation reach its 2015 fundraising goal of $115,000. We depend on the financial support of our friends to continue our important work: furthering human and environmental health and justice.
Every donation helps us to reach our goals. Your investment in KEF is an investment in a safer, healthier future for all Kentuckians. Thank you and Happy Holidays!
